The Great Jezebel.com Trainwreck

Last night was spent at Shoot the Messenger, Lizz Winstead’s weekly comedy show over in the East Village. The first half of the show is a parody/pisstake on the morning show format, the second half consists of Winstead interviewing various political/pop culture types.

This week, the guests were Moe Tkacik and Tracie Egan of Jezebel.com. Both appeared to be blind, stinkingly drunk.

It was a royal disaster.

At one point, Tracie Egan claimed, IIRC, that she wasn’t at as much risk of being raped because she lives in Williamsburg and it was safer there for women. And at another point, Tkacik seemed to forget the basic talking points of her own Washington Post article.

Now, here’s the thing. I respect the work of both Tkacik and Egan. A lot. They’re both good writers. But after last night, I’m kind of bummed and hoping they’ll prep for their next live/television appearance better.

And also, kudos to Lizz Winstead for keeping her cool in what seemed to be an interview that was rapidly going off the rails.

In any case, back to the usual.
